At RGym, we pride ourselves on being your friendly neighborhood gym in Oakland. Our mission is to create a welcoming environment where fitness enthusiasts of all levels can thrive. We offer a variety of services, from personal training to engaging Pilates classes, all aimed at helping you achieve your health and fitness goals.
How are you operating your facility in the time of COVID?
We are adhering to the guidelines set by the state of California and Alameda County. Masking is optional in our facility. Staff clean regularly around the gym. In addition, there is hand sanitizer, sanitizing wipes and spray bottles placed in several convenient places around the gym for use. We ask members to help us keep the gym safe and clean by wiping down equipment after personal use.
How much is your monthly membership?
Our typical membership is $79 a month on an automatic payment plan. Please check out the Membership page for all other details.
How do I find out if my health insurance covers my membership?
If you have not already received information from your insurance company stating your eligibility to our facility, please feel free to contact us and we can assist with verifying your eligibility over the phone.
First time visitor to your facility, do I need to make an appointment?
If you simply want to stop in to see the facility, walk-ins are welcomed. But if you are interested in speaking with staff, discussing membership options, touring the facility, etc., we encourage scheduling an appointment. If you would like training on the equipment we highly encourage scheduling an appointment so staff can be available for instruction.
I am new to this type of equipment and/or restarting a workout routine, is there training on how to use the machines?
Yes! We have two excellent trainers on staff who are available for training on machines and more.
Additionally, as a courtesy to all new gym members, we offer three free 30-minute coaching sessions with one of our coaches for basic usage of RGym equipment. New members can make use of these three coaching sessions within the initial 30 days of signing up. Any additional coaching sessions will be priced at $20 after the completion of the first three sessions or once the 30-day period has elapsed.
My health insurance covers my membership, what am I eligible for?
Your basic membership should be covered, but depending on your type of coverage, there may be additional charges. Feel free to reach out to us for further clarification.
Do you offer personal training?
Yes we do! Please see our personal training program page for more information.
Do I have to commit to a long term agreement?
We offer short term contracts for 3 or 6 months duration. For more information about membership options, please click here.
Can I place my membership on hold?
Yes. Our hold policy will either reduce your monthly rate by 60% or extend your contracted membership agreement for the length of your request. You will need to inform us, in writing, that you are requesting a hold. The request needs to state the reason for the hold, as well as, the start and end dates, we will not be able to put your membership on hold indefinitely. Once we receive your request, you will be notified. You can mail your request to the club at 5357 College Ave, Oakland, CA 94618 or email us.
How do I access the online portal for the first time?
We hope to get you all set up on the online portal during the signup process, if we are unable to, please follow these steps.
- Once you are assigned a membership you will need to go to the online portal.
- Click on First Time Here
- Complete the prompts. First and last name and email address
- An email with a link will be sent to your inbox.
- Use that link to create an account by assigning yourself a username and password.
- Verify the information in our system
- Click and Save Account
- The login created for the portal will be the same to access our app
How old do you have to be to attend?
15 + years of age will need to be accompanied by an adult. 18 or over can come unaccompanied.
Do you have parking?
We have limited parking in the private lot. We are surrounded by residential streets that have free 2 hour parking.
Would you consider expanding your hours of operation?
Our hours meet the needs of our current active members- as our membership grows, so shall our hours. Please feel free to share with us the hours you would like to workout, for us to consider.
What if I want to cancel my membership?
We will need 30 days written notice to cancel a membership. You can mail your letter to the club at 5357 College Ave Oakland, CA 94618 or email us. Once we receive the request to cancel, you will be notified it has been received along with a date the cancellation will go into effect.
How can I participate in the gym's Pilates classes?
We are excited to offer Pilates classes, however, classes are held in limited amounts each month and are exclusively availiable to members of RGym. Due to the limited number of spaces, registration prior to the classes is required in order to participate. All props and equipment needed for the class will be provided to all participants. Please note that during the designated class times, the area near the squat rack and smith machine will be closed off for member use. If you have any questions or require further information, please do not hesitate to reach out.
What Programs Does RGym Offer?
We offer a variety of programs tailored to suit all fitness levels, including personal training, group classes, and our 30-day whole foods clean eating initiative. Each program is designed to promote healthy habits and support your personal fitness goals.
Do I Need Experience to Join?
Not at all! Our programs welcome individuals at any fitness level. Our certified personal trainers work with you to create a customized plan that meets your specific needs, whether you're a beginner or an experienced gym-goer.
What Kind of Support Will I Receive?
As a member of RGym, you'll receive ongoing support through personal coaching, a private Facebook group for community engagement, and access to educational resources. Our staff is dedicated to helping you succeed throughout your journey.
